I frequently have dreams about snakes. One recurring scenario is a snake in my bed, slithering across my feet, or peering over the edge of the bed. Often, terrified, I bound of out bed, turn on the light and seek out the snake. It's only when I am fully awake that I stop searching and can go back to bed (though not necessarily back to sleep).

Last night again I had a similar dream. It was a red snake, coiled up on my night table but rising into the air (like a viper, I suppose), ready to strike (I think). He was gazing down at me. Again, I leapt out of bed, turned on the overhead light and began trying to locate the snake, which had suddenly disappeared (go figure). It took several mimnuntes for me to realize there was no snake and that it had only been a dream.

I've suffering from insomnia lately. I have a lot on my mind and my plate. I have accepted a new job and am leaving my old one at a prestigious company that I love. I am increadibly happy to have landed this new job, which will take me back to my homeland (Canada). It's a big move though, both career-wise and physically. A lot of logistics and such. I know I am also a bit anxious at leaving my old life and friends behind in Europe.

What can the red snake mean?

Snakes in dreams often symbolize healing, which is why we see them in the Caduceus, the symbol for physicians (you know, the 2 snakes wrapped around the staff). This image is embedded in our subconscious and therefore to the dreaming mind snaeks often = healing.

What healing needs to take place in your life? Emotional healing? A physical ailment? Perhaps it's the insomnia that needs to be healed.

You mentioned the snake was red. Red is often a warning sign when it stands out in a dream. It's a red flag. Perhaps your insomnia (or some other issue)is getting out of hand.

It's a good sign the snake was about to strike as that means the emotional or physical healing is about to begin... it's time for you to strike and take action on this issue.

Dear human friend, this is my brief translation of your dream...there is or was or will be a person who you will come across with as far as sharing this journey with, but this human will not support to to lead you to your true joy, as obstacle in thought and your destination to joy will be stumbled from this human... so please remember that we are in control of taking time for self... so do take time for self, as when you expand in seeing the light and wisdom that we all yearn then the energy that will hold you back in joy will vanish...this is why when the light is turned on, then we turn off obstacles
